As more schools are forced to shut down, teachers, parents, and students are looking for new innovative ways to tackle in-home learning.  Whether it’s history, art or nature we have some great apps that could help bring the classroom to you. The app allows you to choose between two tours; one of the house and the other of the gardens and town. Also included in the app is a tour of Reynolda’s robust American art collection on view which ranges from the famous still lifes of  William Michael Harnett to Martin Johnson Heade’s whimsical Orchid with Two Hummingbirds painted in 1871.

Canadian Museum of Nature Final (1)

Nature Trek: Created by the Canadian Museum of Nature this app is designed specifically to engage young visitors. Users are encouraged to explore this science museum by themes such as Gross, Bizarre, or Ugly. The app contains video interviews with curators and staff; and even includes a Highlight Tour of staff favorites around the museum. The app is offered in both French and English.

El Yunque National Forest: The official app of the El Yunque National Forest, the app includes exclusive tours and content created by El Yunque’s educational Interpreters and Rangers. Featuring audio, image galleries, and historic imagery; the app tells the story of the rich landscape through the eyes and words of those helping to preserve it. Also included in the app is a “Become a Junior Forest Ranger” program, which allows kids to answer quiz questions and complete challenges. Spanish and English language options.
